Fully automatic cold and distribution store

Leading actor on the Danish market for convenience goods, Dansk Supermarked, is about to successfully accomplish an extension and automation of its central store for meat and sliced meat products in Vejle.

The original assignment was a modest extension of an existing shelf system in the cold store. However, it turned out to become the largest project Carnitech's department for Packing & Handling has ever taken on. The essence of the project was minimization of manual handling in order to achieve an efficient control of the enormous distribution store and a more reliable delivery.

Tight control extremely important

So far, much paperwork and a great deal of manual packing have been implied in the handling of each order from the shops of Dansk Supermarked. The inventory turnover of the store is high and thus the coordination among the employees has been almost thrillingly important.

"Every day trucks pick up approximately 700 pallets of goods from the store and just about the same amount goes in," project manager at Carnitech, Bent Østergaard, says. "When initiating the project last year, a very important objective was to make the margin of error even narrower than it already is," he says.

Efficient and future proof solution

"The extensive implementation process was begun in early May. We have tested the system very carefully and I can personally vouch for the fact that Dansk Supermarked now has an efficient and future proof solution," Bent Østergaard says. He points out that Carnitech has years of practical experience when it comes to making handling jobs more efficient.

"We are very proud of the opportunity to co-operate with Dansk Supermarked who is both professional and visionary in the retail line of business. We have been complementary to each other on crucial points," Bent Østergaard says. And adds that one of Carnitech's strengths is the ability to establish constructive co-operation with our customers and by joint efforts reach the goals agreed upon.
